Viagra (sildenafil) is used to treat men with erectile dysfunction, or impotence. Impotence manifests as a failure to achieve or sustain an erection of the penis during sexual intercourse or any other sexual activity. Viagra works by relaxing blood vessels in your penis when you are sexually excited. This allows blood to flow into your penis, allowing you to get an erection. Viagra will only work if you are sexually excited. It will not increase your sex drive.
Take sildenafil as directed by your doctor. Take about one hour before having sex. Do not take more than one dose per day.
Do not take Viagra if you are being treated for angina (chest pain) or other heart conditions with certain medicines called nitrates (e.g. Isosorbide mononitrate, Nitrolingual Pumpspray, Lycinate). Discuss with your doctor or pharmacist.
Possible side effects of Viagra:
|Prolonged erection (longer than four hours)
Changes in vision or hearing
|Tell your doctor immediately|
|Urinary symptoms||Tell your doctor|
Runny or blocked nose
|Tell your doctor if troublesome|
|Stomach upset||Take with food|
